Tea Tree Oil Uses and Benefits Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic, antibacterial, fungicide. Uses and benefits of tea tree oil are for: acne, athletes foot, cold and flu, oral thrush, cold and canker sores, tooth ache and gum infections, ringworm, candida, head lice, scabies, warts, cleanser and shampoo additive, mosquito bites, deter fleas, mouth ulcers, herpes, cuts, abrasions, after shave, sunburn, vaginal yeast infections, body odor, toe nail infections and many other uses. Tea tree oil is a good treatment for fungal infections of the skin (athlete's foot, ringworm, jock itch). It will also clear up fungal infections of the toenails or fingernails, a condition notoriously resistant to treatment, even by strong systemic antibiotics. You just paint the oil on affected areas two or three times a day. Tea tree oil is nontoxic. The essential oil of Melaleuca alternifolia, or tea tree oil, has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity in vitro, including activity against herpes simplex virus. Tea Tree Oil is helpful in treating thrush in AIDS patients, dandruff, toenail fungus, and staph infections - hospital-acquired infections that resist most antibiotic treatment. Tea tree oil is also useful against acne and athlete's foot. Tea tree essential oil is normally well tolerated by most people, but may cause irritation or sensitizing in some individuals. A small amount may be used neat on boils, plantar warts, warts and insect bites, but should be diluted for other applications. A ten percent solution (about one and a half tablespoons to a cup of warm water) can be used to rinse and clean infected wounds with good results.
